Jaime DeSimone, Portland Museum of Art
Over the past three years, Jaime has been co-organizing the upcoming North Atlantic Triennial with colleagues at the Reykjavik Art Museum in Iceland and Bildmuseet in Sweden. Pre-pandemic, she traveled regularly to Iceland and throughout the Nordic region in search of artists and objects to feature in the show. On March 3, 2020, she canceled what was supposed to have been an extended trip to Iceland and Sweden for exhibition planning and studio visits with the full curatorial team. Books, television, and podcasts have offered various ways of escapism across the Atlantic Ocean to maintain a connectedness to the High North that has made an indelible mark on Jaime's life. She reads, watches, and listens to many things at once, stepping in and out of environments and narratives that swirl and linger in her mind.
