Fiona Hopper, Portland Public Schools
Fiona Hopper is the Social Studies Teacher Leader and Wabanaki Studies Coordinator for Portland Public Schools. Her work unpacking systemic racism and its impact on education helped lead to the development of the Wabanaki Studies curriculum, which will debut for most PREK-12 classrooms next year in Portland Public Schools.
Passages in American Art integrates Indigenous perspectives to expand the story of American art, making Hopper a vital voice in the reinterpretation of these galleries. She also brings the perspective of the educator and student into the space, continuing the conversation about how the museum can best serve and support what is being taught in classrooms.
