The Valentine Bandit is one of Portland's most beloved traditions. Over the last 45 years, the annual posting of red hearts all over our city has come to represent the heart of the community, and the people who live and love here. Last year, it became known that Kevin Fahrman, a resident of Portland since the 70s, had been the primary ringleader for the operation for over 40 years, after his sudden passing in April of 2023. The community response to Fahrman's passing involved many stories of what the Bandit meant to those who experienced it over the years. The goal of this event is to prompt people to share their stories of the Bandit, and reflect on how others acts of selflessness, kindness, and love really can impact those around them, and hopefully also inspire our community to lead their lives a little more like Kevin.
