Two artists from Untitled, 2020: Art from Maine in a ________ Time come together in conversation in each installment of “Intersections,” our free digital event series that runs throughout the exhibition. Through informal, open-ended conversation, these two artists will make new discoveries together, ask questions, and find common ground in their practices. In this installment, Meghan Mitchell and Charles Schreiber hosts the conversation, and we encourage you to sit in.
Meghan Mitchell identifies as an artist, a woman, daughter, sister, and mother who contributes photography inspired by Victorian-era Hidden Mother Photography that describes how motherhood makes her feel invisible in her own life.
Sculptor and furniture designer Charles Schreiber, on his son’s request, designed and built a flat packed bed for his son to be installed in his home. The king-sized bed can be transported easily and assembled using no tools or hardware—a fully practical piece of furniture that also serves as a reflection on uneasy times.
