Public Symposium “Reflecting Forward: Learning from American Art Reinstallations”

  • Portland Museum of Art 7 Congress Square Portland, ME, 04101 United States (map)

Free and open to the public | Registration required

Join us for Reflecting Forward: Learning from American Art Reinstallations, a public symposium exploring how museum reinstallation projects in partnership with Indigenous communities can create lasting change in American art scholarship, exhibitions, and collection stewardship.

This daylong event will bring together scholars, educators, and artists for thought-provoking discussions on collaborative approaches to reinterpreting collections and reshaping institutional policies. Through panel conversations and artist perspectives, we will examine the impact of Indigenous knowledge and leadership in shaping the future of museum practice.
